The short version
- You must be 18 or older to use this site.
- Only write about things that really happened to you.
- Never name or identify real people, and don't share contact details.
- We check every report before it goes public, and we never change your words.
- Break the rules and you get a warning, then a 7-day ban, then a permanent ban.
- Companies can reply, but they can't delete reports or pay to hide them.
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Ghosted (the “Platform”), operated by the Ghosted team (“we”, “us”, “our”). By creating an account or using the Platform, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and our Community Rules. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.
1. What the Platform is
Ghosted is a free service where job seekers can anonymously share their personal experiences of a company's hiring process. The Platform acts as an intermediary within the meaning of the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 (the “IT Rules”). We do not author, edit, or endorse user reports.
2. Eligibility and accounts
- You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to create an account.
- You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email. You are responsible for keeping access to your inbox secure.
- Each account receives a random public handle. You may not create multiple accounts to evade limits, strikes, or bans.
- You may not impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation with any company.
3. Your content
You are solely responsible for the reports, flags, and other content you submit (“User Content”). By submitting User Content you confirm that:
- it describes your own first-hand experience and is true to the best of your knowledge;
- it concerns a company, not any identifiable individual, and does not name employees, recruiters, or interviewers;
- it contains no personal data of others (names, phone numbers, emails, addresses, social media handles, photos);
- it contains no confidential information, trade secrets, or material you are bound by contract (including an NDA) not to disclose;
- it is not defamatory, obscene, harassing, hateful, threatening, or otherwise unlawful, and does not violate rule 3(1)(b) of the IT Rules.
You retain ownership of your User Content. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual licence to host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute your User Content on and in connection with the Platform, including in aggregated statistics (such as hiring scores and issue percentages). This licence survives withdrawal of a report only to the extent needed to keep aggregate statistics accurate, comply with law, or resolve disputes.
4. Moderation
- All reports are submitted as “pending” and are reviewed before publication.
- We never edit User Content. Moderators may only approve, reject, hide pending review, or remove it.
- Logged-in users and verified company representatives may flag live reports. Flagged reports may be re-reviewed and may be temporarily hidden.
- Moderation actions are logged with the moderator, time, and reason.
- We may refuse or remove any content at our discretion, including where required by law or a valid order.
5. Strikes and bans
Violating these Terms or the Community Rules may lead to removal of content and strikes on your account:
- First violation: warning and removal of the content.
- Second violation: 7-day posting ban.
- Third violation: permanent posting ban.
We may suspend or terminate accounts immediately for serious violations (for example, doxxing, threats, or coordinated false reporting). You may appeal any decision through the grievance mechanism.
6. Limits
To prevent abuse, each account may submit up to three reports in any 24-hour period. We may apply other limits and store minimal, hashed technical signals for abuse prevention as described in the Privacy Policy.
7. Companies
Company representatives may verify their affiliation by signing in with an email on the company's official domain and submitting a claim. Approved representatives may publish official replies and flag reports. Companies cannot edit, delete, or pay to suppress reports. Companies seeking removal of unlawful content may use the grievance process.
8. Prohibited conduct
- Posting false reports, reports about companies you did not interact with, or reports written on someone else's behalf.
- Offering or accepting anything of value in exchange for posting, flagging, or withdrawing reports.
- Scraping, automated access, or attempts to de-anonymise users.
- Interfering with the security or operation of the Platform.
9. Disclaimers
Reports reflect the opinions of individual users. They are not verified and are not statements of fact by us. The Platform is provided “as is” and “as available”. See the Disclaimer.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from User Content or your reliance on it. Our aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Platform will not exceed INR 1,000.
11. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify us against claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your User Content or your breach of these Terms.
12. Changes
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be notified on the Platform. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept them.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts of India have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any non-waivable rights you have under applicable consumer law.
