Rules
Last updated: 15 October 2026
Ghosted helps job seekers know what to expect from a company. That only works if reports are honest and fair, including to the people who work at those companies.
- 1
Write about companies, never people
Don't name recruiters, interviewers, HR staff, founders or any employee. Say “the recruiter” or “the second interviewer” instead. Also avoid details that point to one person.
- 2
No contact details
No phone numbers, email addresses, home or office addresses, social media handles, profile links, screenshots of private chats, or ID numbers. That includes your own.
- 3
Only your own experience
Write about a hiring process you personally went through. No second-hand stories, no reports for a friend, no reports about companies you never applied to.
- 4
No company secrets
Don't share anything you promised to keep secret (like an NDA), internal documents, or the exact assignment they gave you. Describe it in general terms.
- 5
No insults
Describe what happened, when, and how it affected you. No profanity, slurs, threats, or name-calling. Strong opinions are fine; abuse isn't.
- 6
Be truthful
You must tick “This happened to me, and it's true”. Reports that are made up get removed, and you get a warning.
- 7
No cheating
Don't post the same experience twice, use several accounts, team up with others to attack a company, or take money to post or delete reports.
What we check automatically
While you write, we look for phone numbers, emails, social media handles, swear words and names, and show you what to fix. Some are just warnings: you can tick a box to confirm they're fine, and our team will see them too.
How we check reports
- A real person checks every report before it goes public.
- We never change your words. We approve the report as it is, or reject it and tell you why in My reports.
- Anyone signed in can flag a report. If 3 people flag it, we hide it until we check it.
- We keep a record of every decision we make, and why.
What happens if you break the rules
- 1st time: a warning, and the report is removed.
- 2nd time: you can't post for 7 days.
- 3rd time: you can never post again.
Think we got it wrong? Tell us using the contact form.
For companies
Verified company staff can reply publicly and flag reports. Their replies follow the same rules: no names, no details about the candidate, no threats. Companies can't delete reports.
